This book is a collection of the letters and photo's of Elder Johnathon D. Phillips, while serving a two year mission in Ciudad Juarez Mexico.
I am going back two years to add John getting his mission call and his farewell, so I might not have great details here. I thought these pictures needed to be included with his mission book.
John's mission call came early, but he had already planned to open it the day after Thanksgiving so some friends could be there. So, as hard as it was, we left it (and Dave) behind while we went to Pocatello for Thanksgiving.
Four days alone with that white envelope was just too much for Dave to handle! NO, he did not open it and look, he did worse! He made a NEW envelope, a new call, even forging the prophets signature! You can imagine how Dave's anticipation might have been greater than John's!We all gathered around as John (dramatically) started to open, and then read, his mission call.
John Phillips, you have been called to serve in the Liberia Africa mission (GASPS from the audience) as a service missionary, helping the people with ebola etc. etc.
The funny part was, I wasn't worried for one second! I was quite excited for him, it sounded so exciting. John caught on pretty quick, but kept reading for a bit- until he was laughing to hard to continue. The next part was a little more worrisome-- after that pretend call, would his real call be dissapointing!
Cuidad Juarez Mexico! leaving April 15, 2015 (that was a long 5 months!)
We were all very excited for him!
